Arghyam & VJNNS Team’s visit to DC & CEO-ZP

Arghyam & VJNNS team had a meeting with District Collector & CEO-Zilla Parishad to discuss about following:

- About Arghyam, Its Goals & Aims and future plans.
- About VJNNS, Its areas of operation, Work accomplished in WATSAN area and future plans.
- About possible collaboration with Government bodies in implementing GFWSS.

District Collector and CEO-Zilla parishad showed positive response on such a collaboration. Arghyam and VJNNS has been asked to come up with a possible strategy in which such a collaboration is possible.

ACWADAM Team’s Field Visit

A team from ACWADAM, Pune comprising of Mr. Koustub Mahamuni and Aditya visited VJNNS Narasipatnam from 24th Sept to 27th Sept 2011. Primary purpose of this visit was to review the projects executed by VJNNS and provide a scientific approach to the overall programme.

ACWADAM’s field visit was scheduled as given below:
24-Sep-2011: Team reached Narasipatnam.
25-Sep-2011: Field visit to Rintada and Diguvapakalu villages.
26-Sep-2011: Field visit to Palada and A.Sanivaramu villages.
27-Sep-2011: Field visit to Rolugunta village. Wrapup meeting at VJNNS.

Following team members from VJNNS were involved in the discussions and field trips:
Mr. A.V. Raghu Ram (Secretary), Mr. S.B.P. Sarathi (Tech. officer), Mr. Ch. A. Naidu (Field coordinator)
Mr. D.V.Rao (Trainee), Mr. P. karthik chandan (Programme Director), M. A. Siva kumar (Project Director)

Following activities were conducted:
- Collection of rock samples and observation
- Walk thru of spring source catchment area contour lines
- Collection of Water sample.
- Collected other necessary data like, elevation of spring source, distribution tank etc.
- Observed Discharge rate of each of these spring sources.

Arghyam – Project Review & Financial Audits

Arghyam team comprising Mr Manohar & Mr Suresh along with Mr Vijay Kulkarni (External Reviewer) visited Narsipatnam for project review and financial audits.

This is how the schedule was planned:

Day 01 – 24-August-2011 (Half Day)
Discussion on project status so far

Day 02 – 25-August-2011
Site visit to Rolgunta & Palada to see how the GFWSS systems has served the purpose so far.
On the way, team visited Asrada/Bheemanapalli/Gatham pakala & Racha panesa village where people are suffering with acute water shortage problems.

Day 03 – 26-August-2011
Site Visit to Gondipakalu & Chitralagoppu to observe Village committees and their contributions to maintenance of GFWSS &

Discussion with Animators & Village Development (VDC) members &
other discussions at VJNNS

ACWADAM Training

Mr. Siva Kumar A & Mr. Venkateswara Rao from VJNNS gets nominated to get training at ACWADAM (Advanced Center for Water Resources Development And Management) to be conducted between 01 July 2011 to 16 July 2011 at Pune.
