Water for Degalapalam
Degalapalem is a village under Damanapalli Panchyat in G.K.Veedhi Mandal of Visakhapatnam District. This village is having no main road and is away 3 Km connected to Tar road on the side way to Damanapalli to Chintapalli road. This village distancing around 28 kms from mandal office has a Pre school (Alternative School) as well, where around 59 students are getting education. Degala palem where All the families belong to Kodu community contains 39 families with a population of 160. Though female (77) in number males (83), their literacy rate is more in male (38) female literates are (24). Almost all the villagers work in agriculture farm lands mostly confine to dry lands and Podu cultivation. Almost all the houses are having Roof with Asbestos sheet and semi-pucca houses got sanctioned from Govt Indiramma scheme. Degala palem too has food security problem, where in 50% of the villagers sometime do not have half day meals. Annual Expenditure being more than income doesn’t allow them to take loan facilities as they do not hold re-paying capacity. Most of the people are benefitted by various Government schemes such as ration cards, MGNREGS, Arogya Sri etc. but still many other schemes are yet to reach these villages well like agriculture, Income generating schemes etc.
