Water for Tadiveedhi
The village has two wells and a borewell. One well is completely contaminated, the other well has a low yield and dries up during summer. It gets contaminated with agricultural effluents very often. So the single source is a bore well which provides low yield and is insufficient to cater to the needs of the entire village. Drawing water is consuming a lot of time for the community as nearly 6 hours of each family’s time is spent only in fetching water. Above all, the footpath to reach the drinking water source is slippery and steep. The community has contributed their own money to purchase HDPE pipe and connected the spring to the village directly, and now the entire community is enjoying that water.
As the villagers were convinced to address the drinking water problem, they have shown interest to put in their labor contribution, and formed a 9 member Village Development Committee to reach the identified spring source, which is at a distance of about 2.2 KMs near Thokala banda hillock.
