Water for Vandanapalli
There is only one well available which is also abandoned, and thus the entire village is dependant on one Vuta. The spring is also not well maintained thus resulting in several health issues in the village with high occurrence frequency. Utilization of the perennial spring is consuming a lot of time for the community as nearly 6 hours of each family’s time is spent only in fetching water. Above all, the foot path to reach the drinking water source is slippery and steep.
As the villagers were convinced to address the drinking water problem, they have shown interest to put in their labor contribution, and formed a 13 member Village Development Committee to reach the identified springsource, which is at a distance of about 2.5kms from the village.
The recorded elevation at the proposed source is 925 Mts and 905 Mts at the village level. Hence the request of the community is genuine and recommended for the Gravity Fed Water Supply System to solve the drinking problem of the village for the present and future generations. The community also agreed upon the maintenance part by saving some portion of their earnings for the repairs of the system.
