The village of Lakshmipuram is divided into two streets, one street being dependent on a well for drinking water and the other street being dependent on the spring. The well yields very low and even dries up during the summer. It gets contaminated with agriculture effluents very often. About 6 hours of each family's time is spent in fetching water alone and is killing a lot of community time. As the villagers discovered the right way to solve the drinking water problem, they showed interest in investing their labor as a contribution towards the cause. They formed a 9 member Village Development Committee to tap the identified spring source, which is at a distance about 0.3 kms from Konda hillock.
