Thanks to Frank Water UK funding and the expertise of VJNNS 24 students at the Mandal Praja Parishath (MPP) School in Thuruthumpadu village now have a safe water source, toilets and washbasins. Along with the construction came education on the proper use of the new facilities and teaching students proper personal hygiene.
VJNNS embarked on a project to bring a safe water source to village schools. Gramsabhas (village meeting) were organized in 28 villages in Chintapalli, G.Madugulea, Arakuvally and G.K. Veedhi mandals of Visakhapatnam district and 28 schools were identified as having no water connectivity. VJNNS identified key obstacles to providing a water connection to the school campus and finalized a plan to execute for the water connection based on the technical feasibility study performed by the VJNNS technical team. It was determined that 22 schools of the 28 were able to be included in the project. Together with the village community VJNNS provided safe drinking water to each school and constructed wash basins and toilets.
